LiveEdit failing to load Word documents, fails at point of load

Hello: I have a user whose hard drive we had to replace who now is having problems using LiveEdit.

• the LiveEdit icons show in the browser
• when she clicks on a Word doc to edit it, the process starts but fails to load in Word
• oddly, Excel works fine
• checking into it, the document is downloaded properly to their local drive folder and the temp loader file is also created; and this tries to launch Word

First let me say what I have tried:

• uinstall and reinstall LiveEdit
• run "repair" on Word

LiveEdit version: 2.4.3; Firefox protocol handler: 0.5.2

So I dug around for the log and it seems to be failing at the point where Nuxeo is trying to get Word to load the file:

Any ideas? Web searches do not bring up anything like this (the only matches to the interop problem is when someone is trying to program something and they do not send in the correct arguments)

Hi Albert,

Nuxeo Live Edit is deprecated, you should use Nuxeo Drive Edit, see Online Editing section of Nuxeo Drive documentation.

Can Drive Edit be used by just one person without retrofitting our entire install? If so, it's a big change where I have 35 users who are working okay and 1 user who is not. We use an external contractor to configure and program Nuxeo to our requirements and so it is not something I can just drop into our installation. We are not scheduled for any new customizations and upgrades for about 6 months so again unless I can drop it in for one user, not a trivial task.

Update: the user reported that LiveEdit is now working with Word again. With further checking, it seems that her connection is a bit slow (she works remotely through a VPN tunnel) and I am guessing (just guessing mind you) that if the connection is slow, it's possible that LiveEdit has not finished downloading the document when Word was trying to load it. I guess someone from development would have to confirm if LiveEdit waits until it can get a lock on the file before loading it or not.

For now, she is working. I also checked with our developer and he said that it would take quite a bit of effort to incorporate Nuxeo Drive into our version of Nuxeo (5.6) and therefore it would be best to not do this until we incorporating the next Nuxeo upgrade (later this year).
