Word 2007 - Opening Document Issue

When I click on a Word doc in the explorer (doc or docx), the download starts and then I get a screen in word that is the Alfresco login page telling me that I need to enable cookies to view the document. This does not happen with any other docs or even other types of Office documents like Excel.

I'm using Word 2007 and Alfresco Enterprise 3

Any ideas on what is going on? I've tried this with IE 7 and 8 and get the issue with both.

I've poked around quite a bit more on this and I can see that Word is being passed the request to download the document from IE. I can see in a port scanner that Word is opening port 443 to the alfresco server, the request is failing, and the login screen is being tossed back into word (same thing with excel).

I'm not sure when this started or why, but this is a pretty big problem for all our users using MS Office.

I'll keep trying to see what the deal is.

I did check powerpoint - no problem with that one. So far just Word and Excel are showing this behavior.

Why is port 443 involved? Have you reconfigured Tomcat to use SSL, or have you got an Apache web server in front?

yeah - sorry - our alfresco server is using https (port 443).

I've reproduced the same effect on my local alfresco development server too.

We have alfresco running on apache and jboss app server

I've noticed now that if I go the details page and download the document from the download content link, this works.

What is the difference between this link and the link on the content items view?

From what I can see the link from content items is:

https://www.myserver.com/alfresco/d/d/workspace ….

and the one from the details page is:

https://www.myserver.com/alfresco/d/a/workspace ….

Is there a difference with this one letter in how the doc is being surf'd up?
