Which applications are used to print OCR barcodes?

The company I have an internship with is planning to implement an OCR solution for another company, which will probably incorporate one of Kofax' applications to handle document scanning and submission to an Alfresco repository.  I know applications such as Kofax Express and Kofax Capture can read barcodes, but which applications are available, and generally preferred, to print them?

EDIT: I think I've found a Java library I can use: Barbecue.
