The root node is the first node in a store. In unix terms think of it as "/" or in windows terms c:\
So CompanyHome is a child of the root node.
It differs from "normal" nodes in that it is not a cm:folder and the relationship between root and company home is not a cm:contains relationship. Its a bit of a pain really but its been that way for a long time.
