Well, generally alpha versions like yours are not very stable.
If you are going to production, I'd suggest using Alfresco Enterprise 4.2.3 to ensure a better quality and service packs.
But if you are still giving it a try to Alfresco and not on production and expect a stable Community edition, I would stay with 4.2.f for now.
