What is CMR?

This acronym (well, I'm assuming it's an acronym) is all over the Alfresco code base (there are 33 classes in org.alfresco.service.cmr) but I can't find any mention of what CMR stands for.  I thought maybe "Content Management Repository," but presumably "repo" is short for "repository" which would have to be short for "the content management repository" so having CMR mean the same thing seems redundant.  Also, that would make org.alfresco.service.cmr.repository "Content management Repository Repository," and in the package hierarchy it should be a peer with descriptor, license, namespace, and transaction.

Any ideas?

It's an important package since it contains (or should contain) the public interfaces of the various Alfresco Java Services.

I don't know what the initials "cmr" stand for,  but its been there since the early versions of Alfresco.
