webservice in a user point of view

Hi All,

I want to integrate a java based application with alfresco3.3 and use it remotely through webservices.
I am quite confused how to do it.
I followed wikis but didn't gain a lot fronm that.
So please help me in a elabarate way so that i will clear my concept about webservices.
There are many documents about web scripts as compare to webservices api.
Please  provide any link or  any document which will help me.

If you are starting out with a Java client then you should probably look at OpenCMIS since it hides the lower level details from you.
