WebScripts exposing Discussion Spaces

All,
   Has anyone exposed Alfresco's Discussion Spaces via WebScripts for an INTERNET site?  This would provide basic forum capabilities, but keep the content within the Alfresco Repository.  I know theoretically this is possible, but was looking for pros and cons, and if anyone has done it.

Would potentially do this to provide blogging functionaliy, but would be the same concept.

This is something that I have been looking into as well.  Interested in seeing if anyone has had experience in this.
