There are a number of Java web service samples that can be found in the Alfresco source distribution within the package org.alfresco.example.webservice.sample. These samples demonstrate a number of simple web service use cases.
Can someone point to these files - I can't find them
If you are just looking for some samples you may also want to have a look into alfresco-community-sdk-1.3.0\samples\WebServiceSamples after unzipping the alfresco-community-sdk-1.3.0.zip.
