Hello all,
I have recently began testing Alfresco labs 3 on a CentOS 5.2 platform with Tomcat 5.5. I am using the base WAR packages but have gotten everything working with Openoffice, imagemagick, swftools, etc. such that I have a clean startup and everything is working as far as basic login/logout.
However, as I began to familiarize myself with the system, I ran across this error when I clicked on a document from within a site's document repository in Share (in this case, an Excel 2003 file, but Word 2003 docs and PDFs for sure exhibit the same behavior). The file preview shows up on the left, the Document Actions on the right, but the middle pane shows this error:
Any ideas on where to start to troubleshoot this? I have verified the form.get.js file exists at /usr/share/tomcat5/webapps/share/WEB-INF/classes/alfresco/site-webscripts/org/alfresco/components/form.
Thanks,
Scott

I seem to be getting this in other ways as well. I am not 100% sure these 2 events are related, but when i tried a search under Alfresco Share, it stated "Search for ''aci'' in all sites returned 38 results" and directly below that is shows "No records found".
My catalina.out file shows a single line that simply says "[Fatal Error] :1:27: A DOCTYPE is not allowed in content.". Nothing else, and my alfresco.log file doesn't even show that entry. I am continuing my search but have not found much on the topic.

The DOCTYPE error is likely an exception response form the server. Is there anything in the alfresco.log file?
Thanks,
Mike

The alfresco log shows only activity feed update entries and login entries. No errors whatsoever. My initial post in this thread shows the only exception error I was able to find (and that shows up client-side and produces the same DOCTYPE error in my catalina log).
Making a few backups to XML files under my webapps folder and then deleting everything in there and placing the war files back in from a fresh extract - would that be a good first move? I haven't really messed with anything much, so I am not sure what I could have done to break it.
However I am using a nightly build from awhile back because I needed the fix for the "nonsecure items" warning that pops up on the share login page on SSL sites. I see there is a newer build out now, so perhaps I should try that one? I can also revert back to the official release just to see if it is a problem with the newer builds.
Other than settings, assuming I haven't changed anything else, I won't lose anything by doing that, correct? I am willing to start there if you think that is best. Or do you think the problem could be elsewhere, such as the installation of tomcat itself or some other supporting files?
Thank you,
Scott

I suspect the "least effort" solution would be grabbing either the official release, or the latest nightly. You *shouldn't* lose any data if you just replace the war files, but please do take a backup of alf_data and the db if the data is important to you.
Thanks,
Mike

Thanks for your help Mike, the latest nightly build fixed that problem as well as another having to do with search results not returning.

I posted here http://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=36&p=70295 but I got no responses. Maybe you guys can help me.
I need to resolve this problem ASAP,…my boss wants me to into SHtAREPOINT instead but i want to give Alfresco a chance.
thank you for reading.
