Web and App Server Seperate - Installation

Hi all,

Is there a way i could do the alfresco installation of the community edition using Web Server and App Server Seperately.
The reason for this is that I would like to expose the alfresco share to internet for people to use over internet.
And it seems that the standard installation has web and app (tomcat) on the same server and i am not able to expose it to the internet for obvious security reasons. If i have seperate web server, then i could move that alone to DMZ and expose it.

Any other standard practice or pattern or solution or pointers would also be helpful.
