VTI cannot authenticate through File > Open

Got a weird issue here - where I can save a Word Document to a Alfresco Space, but I can't open any. I have to open the file locally (at which point it informs me it's also on the alfresco share and prompts me to update it).

When I try to open from Word (File > Open http://192.168.1.123:7070/alfresco), it prompts me for a password but then doesn't accept it (and the prompt re-appears).

Username and password are definately correct, as I can save to the workspace using the same credentials and login on port 8080.

16:52:49,965 User:admin DEBUG [alfresco.v3.AlfrescoMethodHandler] WebUrl: /alfresco, fileUrl: ''

That's my log file - it just doesn't want to authenticate.

Also - if I go to http://192.168.1.123:7070 in firefox or IE - I get the same never-ending login prompt.

I'm just using out-of-the-box standard authentication using the default admin account alfresco comes setup with.

Oh, running on tomcat, CentOS, and MySQL.

Anyone any ideas?

Tom.

Just to update. I've installed alfresco on another remote server (first time was local virtualised server).

I get exactly the same problem. I can't even connect via port 7070 - even through a browser.

However, I tried on a Virtualised XP install - and it's fine.

I'm currently Running Windows 7 RC1. Looks like that could be the issue here…..

Have you got a firewall in the way?
And have you bound to the correct IP address?

Those are the usual problems with being unable to network with CentOS.

No firewall. IP tables turned off on CentOS. Firewall disabled on my PC.

Windows 7
1. I go to http://myserver:7070/alfresco (in IE, trusted site, default browser)
2. It gives me a authentication popup (windows).
3. I put my username in
4. It rejects it
5. Go to #2
(repeat 3 times).

Windows 7
1. I go to http://myserver:8080/alfresco
2. It presents me with the login screen
3. I login with the same username and password that was just rejected.
4. I use the site.

Windows XP
1. I go to http://myserver:7070/alfresco (in IE, trusted site, default browser) (On XP Machine on same local network)
2. It gives me a authentication popup (windows).
3. I put my username in
4. It accepts it.

So it works fine on an XP machine on the same network….

Can you just clarify what you mean?

Where do I "bind" the IP?

Also - what connections should i allow, as eventually I do want a firewall running. 7070? TCP/UDP?

Thanks,

Tom.
