I am testing WCM preview along the Tutorial. Everything works fine until I try to preview the staging sandbox.

The page http://www-alfresco-www--staging.avm.127-0-0-1.ip.alfrescodemo.net:8180/ is not available.

Any hint whats wrong with my setup?

You need to run virtual_start.bat in your install folder.

Its a different server for preview.

This may also occur if you're not connected to a network (as I discovered on the train earlier).

I didn't get things working until I made a hosts entry that mapped the virtual domain back to localhost. How are the virtual names meant to work?

I have tried to follow all required instructions in order to make the virtual server work :
(1) Connect to a network
(2) Run virtual_start.bat
(3) Try stopping and restarting the Virtualization Server

But I still can't visulize the following pages :
http://www-alfresco-www--admin.avm.127-0-0-1.ip.alfrescodemo.net:8180/
Or
http://www-alfresco-www--admin.avm.127-0-0-1.ip.alfrescodemo.net:8180/ROOT/index.jsp

Those pages cannot be displayed or unavailable???

What is wrong with the set-up?
I think the complete update set-up procedure is required then.

Is there anyone can help?  Smiley Happy

Thanks,

Razali

Have you tried entering the URLs into your hosts file and pointing them back at 127.0.0.1? (C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts for XP, /etc/hosts for *nix). I'm not sure how the server does its thing (entering some DNS info at a low level?), but until I entered some resolving for the dynamic urls manually, I didn't get anything.

Mr. Marcus.. Thank you for your suggestion.
I have tried entering IP 127.0.0.1  as localhost's in host file (C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts) and I also have done all tutorial in the manual.

But, I still can't visulize those pages.
How to check the virtual server is running without error?.

Is there any help  from Alfresco Team? Smiley Happy

Thanks.
