Hi all,
When I click on 'View in Browser' action on to the document, it views for text file, .js file. But for pdf file, word file, etc.. it downloads the document. Do I need to configure something for this? Why is this behavior for these files? What should be done in order to make all files view in browser itself rather than downloading?

Thanks,
Naveen

Hello,

the "view in browser" functionality relies on your browser having the appropriate set of plugins / addons to actually display the file type. For PDF files this would require the Adobe plugin. Office files (like Word) can't ever be viewed in just the browser, but I think you can setup Office / Internet Explorer to automatically open the file in Office without prompting for download.

Basically, the "view in browser" action is nothing special apart from opening the file in a separate tab of the browser with a slightly modified URL that should allow the browser to pick an appropriate view action instead of always requiring download. If the browser doesn't have a better action available, it will default back to the download prompt.
