I have installed alfresco in a linux (suse) box. I have successfully connected from windows using CIFS but connection is too slow. It keeps hanging, even when moving a small document. I have allocated the server 1 GB of RAM. any help will be appreciated.

On a wired LAN network, it works perfectly with no delays but on a wireless LAN network, I cannot even open a folder without it hanging. Any ideas

I have the same problem. I am using version 3.0 on Ubuntu. All the clients try to connect from Windows XP machines. Has anyone experienced this?

My server is 64-bit machine with 8GB RAM. We are still in trial mode, so there isn't heavy usage to slow it down

Good day,

I'm experiencing the exact same issue under Alfresco 3 VMWARE (running on a Linux Redhat 5 host). Web access works really fast but CIFS does not. Sometimes when trying to access a dir or just by changing dirs the client machine (WinXPsp3 and sp2) just hungs. I have tried optimizing JAVA OPTIONS and also modifing CIFS settings such as sessionTimeout and other variables.

My lan clients use wireless 54Mb.. i have not tried a phisically wired client but that should not matter. PLEASE HELP.

My CIFS setup authenticates with a windows 2003 AD and I even added WINS usage for alfresco and all of my clients can access \\alfresco just fine. At the begining I thought this problem was related to DNS or Netbios problems but is it not because i'm experiencing the exact same problem when trying to acces the alfresco server either by IP or by name. F.i. \\alfresco and \\192.168.1.5 .. these two hung… sometimes even when accesing a dir list or sometimes when moving back to root dir… it takes sometimes 2 minutes for a dir listing to show up… it is very strange since sometime accessing a dir it takes less than 1 sec… so i'm not really sure what's happening.

We have same problem, my setup is virtual vmware machine with 16Gb RAM and 8GB for JVM, Centos 5.3 x86_64 installed, tuning jvm options and changing Mysql server to another new host.

Alfresco explorer very fast, and CIFS is more slowly.

We are testing Alfresco 3.2 and we have the problem again.

There's another thread on these forums saying that you need to install Microsoft's "loopback adapter" to get CIFS working well on vmware.

My host is vmware esx 3.5 and my virtual machine is Centos 5.3 x86_64.

My /etc/hosts file is:
127.0.0.1               localhost.localdomain localhost
::1             localhost6.localdomain6 localhost6
192.168.65.65         alfresco32

I can't install Microsoft's "loopback adapter" because aren't Microsoft's servers.
