I managed to run Alfresco to create spaces etc.
Then I tried to change the server name in file-servers.xml to "alfresco" instead of <host name="${localname}_A"/>.
I reloaded alfresco (with alfresco.sh start/stop) and ever since I can't login to alfresco - not even with admin/admin (whcih I did not change).

the alfresco.log shows the following errors:
09:20:47,767 WARN  [org.alfresco.web.app.servlet.AuthenticationHelper] Unable to login as Guest: Access Denied. You do not have the appropriate permissions to perform this operation.
09:45:14,880 ERROR [org.alfresco.smb.protocol] File server configuration error, Failed to get IP address(es) for the local server, check hosts file and/or DNS setup
org.alfresco.error.AlfrescoRuntimeException: Failed to get IP address(es) for the local server, check hosts file and/or DNS setup

Thanks

The "unable to login as guest" error generally indicates that you have started the Alfresco server from a different start directory. By default the "alf_data" directory (where indexes and content are stored - including the user indexes) will be found in ./alf_data e.g. relative to the start directory. If you run the start script from a different directory then the system will not be able to find alf_data. Perform a search to see if you have more than one alf_data directory.

Thanks,

Kevin
