User Guide/User Manual

Hi all,

After about 2 weeks of manipulating Alfresco CE 3.*, I realize that without a proper User Guide/User Manual, I won't be able to use it and train others to use it. The wiki and the forum are helpful, but there are too many topics that are not covered.

"How to create you own email templates", "what is the permission matrix of the different roles available : manager, collaborator, coordinator, etc…","how to create new roles", "how to successfully apply permissions on content/spaces".

So my question is : where to find such a documentation/information ? Is it provided with the Enterprise version ? If not, how do people manage to implement and use this application ?

I am in the same shoe here : )

I guess it is covered in "Alfresco 3 Enterprise Content Management Implementation" or in "Alfresco Developer Guide" books, but is there any other alternative?

Hi,
there are quite some informationes hidden in the wiki, but unfortunately, it is not structured very well in this direction and some information is hard to find. Nobody ever took the time to set up decent categories for this or update the pages (and yes, I myself also 😞 ) so as to make finding for subsequent searchers more helpful. So you could be better than me and start doing that 🙂

One thing I can provide is the standard role matrix for Alfresco Explorer. Regarding email templates and stuff - just upload your versions to the datadictionary.

just google for "alfresco end user guide" and try the excellent document from Romain Delalande and Brice Chaffangeon.

Yes - just go ahead, its community documentation.

There's also a set of user guides in docs.alfresco.com.
