Url custom type

Hello all.

I need to develop a url custom type, wich means a single property (the url) object that opens the url in a new window when clicked.

But what would be the best way to achieve this ?
- Inherit from cm:content, although the object doesn't really have any binary content ;
- Inherit from cm:cmobject : this seems more logical to me, but shall I be able to use the configuration facilities in web-client-config.xml ? (use of content wizard, property sheet config, etc…)

Second question :
When the object is clicked, the target url should be opened.
Is it possible to do so by configuration only, or shall I have to override the browse.jsp, with a specific treatment for "url type" objects ?

You can inherit from any type you want. If you use cm:content or cm:folder, the edit and display-details pages are all in place, already. For the others, you have to build/extend your own. How much you can reuse, would depend on you, i guess Smiley Happy

Hi,

Thanks for your answer. I think I'll try to inherit from cm:cmobject to see what are the counterparts of that approach  Smiley Happy .

Any one has any idea concerning the way I should handle the click on the new object ? Shall I have to modify browse.jsp or is there a more proper way to do ?
