Dear All,

We often need to send digital documents to our customer.

Our office is located in Hong Kong, our customer in Europe.
I would like to be able to upload documents on a server and our European customer able to download it.

Every customer would get a login and password. Once connected they would see the document uploaded for them.

Most of time the files will be around 50 - 100 meg.

Could you tell me if Alfresco is a good software to setup this advanced ftp that we need.

Thanks for your fast answer,

Cheers,

Furf

Hello,

Thanks for your fast answer.

1/ Could you tell me more about the speed of Alfresco ? Will it be ok for my customer to download large files ?

2/ What about the interface, is it possible that after login my customer only see their documents and doesn't need to click on a lot of links and so on…  ?
Currently Alfresco looks too complex for my point of view, with many stuf …

3/ Shall i wait the V3 or can start to use this one ?

Thanks

Hello,

If you mainly want to use Alfresco for document management I would say you better have a look at the Webdav feature.
And BTW , people will only see documents from folders (spaces) they are invited to. We have good experience from speed.

Hello,

It is possible for my customer to directly access to their documents after they login.

In sort:

1/ They Login
2/ They see all their documents and can download them easily. They are not bothered by any other functions or link.

Is it possible ?

Thanks

There are a number of options:

- You can have your customers directly access the WebDAV interface; they will be presented with an HTTP Basic authentication dialog by the browser.
- You can use one of the out-of-the-box portlets, e.g. http://{server}:8080/alfresco/wcs/ui/doclist
- You can develop your own simpler webscript-based UI

Thanks,
Mike
