Hi All,

I have bitnami alfresco installed on ubuntu server. I'm able to upload doc, xls, power point files through webdav, using http://serverSmiley Tongueort/alfresco/webdav. I want to upload pdf, txt, html files. But while uploading pdf, txt files i'm getting error like, please chose another location.

Can somebody help me out to resolve this issue? Where do I need to make changes.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Yogesh,

at this point you should start to provide a little more detail in your posts, e.g. post the contents of Alresco log files. Based on "i'm getting error like, please chose another location", nobody can tell you how to resolve the issue because probably nobody can reproduce it / understand it with limited information.

Have you tried a normal, local installation of Alfresco? Do you have the same issues there? I don't know how good those bitnami images actually are…

Regards
Axel

Hi AFaust,

Actually I'm uploading the pdf, txt, html files from local machine to alfresco which is stored on ubuntu server.
As we know we can directly upload the files to alfresco from client machine by using the url like,
http://serverSmiley Tongueort/alfresco/webdav/
right?

I am able to upload doc, xls, ppt files using webdav to the server but while uploading the pdf files when I tried to save the file to above location it gives the error like, "please chose another location". Actually it should ask for username and password.

If you want I'll attach the screen shot also.

– Thanks

Hello,

what do you mean by "uploading files" ?
Do you do some copy/paste at the file level ? Or do you open/create files in Acrobat, Word, and so on, and make a "save as" to the webdav location ?
In this last case you have to know that not all programs are "webdav aware".
Microsoft Office is. Acrobat Reader (as far as I know) is not. Notepad… probably not 😉
That could explain why you office files are saving well, but not pdf and txt.

Hi Slibert,

Thanks for reply.
Yes, i want to save the pdf, txt file, 'Save As' to the webdav location.

Okay, I got to know that pdf, txt files are not "webdav aware", is there any way to make it "webdav aware".
Is there any setting?

Please do reply.

– Thanks
