The documents uploaded in the records management site are of one type alone "cm:content". Eventually you can add custom record metadatas onto it and once the mandatory fields are supplied with relevant values… you can declare the document as a record. While uploading documents in the RM site, the different options which you see are not types but record metadatas (Web record, PDF record, etc… each provide record metadata associated with it). on the backend they get saved in a common type(cm:content).
The document type can be set in Alfresco share sites while collaboratively working on the document before being moved onto the records site.
