Hi all,

our customer has documents synchronized on |Windows file system and some of them have long path, longer then 256 characters. When we try to import these files to Alfresco via CIFS we receive message that path is too long. In the error window is suggested to replace the name with something shorter.

Is there possibility to import these files with long path via CIFS without changing file path?

Thanks in advance…

No. You can't use CIFS for file name longer than 256 character. It is limitation in Microsoft windows. Good news is from windows 10 we have way to enable long file path.

For the moment I would suggest you to use CMIS or Alfresco API to sync those documents in repository. Even you can try this cmissync-alfresco-desktop-sync addon.

Hey you can use LongPathTool software when file path is too long or when you cannot detect path of file easily.
