Upgrade from Community Edition 3.2.0.1 to 4.0.0.0

Hi,
I am using for a while the OpenWorkdesk Community Edition 3.2.0.1 Final.
Yesterday I have downloaded the OWD 4.0.0.0 Final Community Edition.

Where can I find information about how to upgrade from one OpenWorkdesk version to other without loosing my settings (xml configuration, search templates…)

Are the "new" OWD releases backwards compatible to the older versions, or do I have to re-configure a new OpenWorkdesk again ?

Hi Johnny,
first of all, you can download a lot of useful information from http://www.openworkdesk.org  (tab "docs").

It depends on how many changes you have made in your existing OWD 3.2.0.1 deployment:

1.: If you have just made some changes in your config files like owplugins.xml / owbootstrap.xml or search templates then I would recommend to deploy OWD 4.0.0.0 as a new deployment. Afterwards, analyze the differences of  your existing configuration (e.g. "/WEB-INF/conf/cmis>") and search template folders (e.g. "WEB-INF/cmis") and copy the changes (e.g. new config parameters in the 4.0.0.0 version) into your existing files ==> afterwards, copy these updated files from your old deployment into your new deployment.

2.: If you have made many customizations (JSPs, "css"-styles, images, custom code), then I would recommend the way as it is described in our Installation Guide in chapter "9 Updating OpenWorkdesk"

Our software is absolutely backward-compatible - don't worry 🙂

Of course we do have Release Notes for every version of our core products and we have an documentation download area restricted to our enterprise customers, where they can download Release Notes. 

For this forum, only the Rease Notes for those versions of WeWebU OpenWorkdesk are of interest, which were released as Community Edition. The Release Notes for OpenWorkdesk 3.2.0.2 are available here:
