Update office document using Alfresco?

Hi, is there exists a technique in Alfresco it allows to fill office document with content managed in Alfresco?

For example, user will create custom content of type "Training request" and after approving proccess there will be generation of word document with predefined style and content (template). Is there a way on how to fill word document with properties of "Training request"?

You could use an Alfresco custom java action for this. We already integrate the Apache POI library which can be used to create/edit Office documents including Word - we use it to extract meta-data from word document summary fields etc. See the document on the apache site to see if it will help you.
