Today Alfresco announced the release of the first draft implementation of Content Management Interoperability Services (CMIS). The release, which is included with Labs 3 B, provides support for both a REST and a Web Services API. Developers can now write content management applications that work with any CMIS compliant repository.

You can read more details in John Newton's blog, http://newton.typepad.com/content/2008/09/alfresco-releases-first-cmis-implementation.html. We've also assembled CMIS resources on the wiki, http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/CMIS, and we've created a new forum to discuss the CMIS implementation, CMIS developer topics and to share your experiences developing CMIS applications.

You can download Alfresco Labs B with CMIS at http://wiki.alfresco.com/wiki/Installing_Labs_3

My first visit to the site.  This is the first post I read and so I did a quick search on CMIS and REST and came up with the following link http://roy.gbiv.com/untangled/2008/no-rest-in-cmis . I am a little confused.  I realize I am not the most technical person in the world but when the person who came up with the term REST says CMIS in not RESTful it gives me pause.  Maybe someone on the forum can clarify.  Thanks.
