Unable to unlock locked document

Using "Edit online" a couple of times it happens that the document stays locked in Alfresco (from time to time it seems that MS Office have problems sending the unlock command or Alfresco have problems with the unlock command or whatever). Trying to unlock the document in Alfresco Explorer as admin with the available "Unlock" action throws a webscript error

A system error happened during the operation: Der Node (ID: e289693e-ddc8-4898-b6d0-4b83c7fb5dec) konnte nicht gesperrt werden, da er bereits von einem anderen Benutzer gesperrt ist.‍

which translated means

Could not lock document - it was already locked by another user‍

… YES this is the exact message I get by clicking the UNLOCK action …

So how can we unlock this file?

Hi Micheal,

Were you able to find any additional info on the locking issue? We are facing the same issue on 4.2.f and we think the root cause is similar to what you mentioned in your post.
