Unable to index content of MS 2007 docs

Hi all, i'm new to alfresco , i've just installed labs 3 stable on 2003 platform, all seems to works fine except indexing of Office 2007 documets. I've read some posts about this and modified openoffice-document-formats.xml to include new docs type. Also modified content-services-context.xml  but still not working.
I read about open office and a version of open office that could open this type of documents, in my server i have Openoffice portable but when i start alfresco server i have some errors about "soffice" not found and so on. Do i need to have Open office installed and configured in alfresco to have content indexed ?

I've solved this issue. Remove OpenOffice portable and installed new version 3.0, corrected openoffice-startup-context.xml to reflect new openoffice path , rebuild all indexes (don't know if this is relevant…) and then moving new docx documents i have them indexed.
I was wrong when i wrote version 3 stable, on my windows platform i have 3c version…
