Ubuntu 8.04 installation

Hello,

maybe this is a question often asked.

we wan't to install alfresco 3Stable labs on our ubuntu 8.04 x86 LTS server system. we tried every installation guide found in the wiki and spend a lot of time in the forum. but it won't work. is there a detailed description how this works?. We read that many people got this to work. but we don't :-(.

we installed all prerequisites. we customised every file … but it won't start. we disabled all "other services (open-xchange, samba the firewall the portsentry deamon and so on). no chance

maybe someone has any idea! i can send the alfresco.log output …

our normal samba server is down!

self solved!

after investigating some time we found the reason: two tomcat instances on on machine ….. beginners error 😞
