Hi,

Does anybody know if it's possible to make a tag's hierarchy in alfresco 3.4.d? I tried to find a solution in order to implement a thesaurus in alfresco, in vain.

thanks in advance.

Can you clarify your question? If you want hierarchical tagging you should use Categories instead of Tags. Categories are a "closed" vocabulary and are managed by an admin, so that may not be what you want.

I'm also not clear on the thesaurus part of your question.

I try to use categories but it doesn't allow share's user to do a research. Categories are just visible for administrator. So my objective is to have a thesaurus/taxonomy/hierarchical categories, for the share's user.

For example, a thesaurus concerning "individu" will be like this:

    Lecteur

    Participant
    —->Éditeur non-inscrit
    —->Éditeur inscrit

    Participant mandaté
    —->Administrateur
    —->Gestionnaire
    —->Représentant
   …

And each users could post documents in the branch of this thesaurus thanks to tags.

thanks for your help.

Out-of-the-box, category hierarchies can only be managed by an administrator using the Explorer client. However, alfrescian has implemented a Share-based category manager that you might want to take a look at (blog post).

Once you figure out how to manage the categories, any user, even in Share, can add categories to a document provided they have the appropriate permissions. Just add the classifiable aspect to the document and you should see the add categories button when you edit the metadata.

To search on a category in Share, your users can go to the Repository view and use the Categories filter. I'm hoping that we'll see the Categories filter added to the Document Library in Swift, but I'm not sure when it will be there.
