The OpenOffice connection has been lost

My installation of Alfresco Community Edition appeared to work fine… for a few days.
Yesterday when I went back to share to upload some new documents the preview did not work citing "The Preview could not be loaded from the server"

I looked at the alfresco log file and found
    16:31:27,285 WARN  [org.alfresco.util.OpenOfficeConnectionTester] An initial OpenOffice connection could not be established.
    16:32:00,114 INFO  [org.alfresco.util.OpenOfficeConnectionTester] The OpenOffice connection was re-established.
    16:40:00,019 ERROR [org.alfresco.util.OpenOfficeConnectionTester] The OpenOffice connection has been lost.

This same behavior occurs every time the server is restart, with the only variance being in the amount of time it takes before the connection is lost.
I have tried to reinstall OpenOffice, but no difference in behavior.

**UPDATE** It appears that the OpenOffice connection is lost after the first new preview is generated. **

I believe I have set my paths for openoffice correctly, because it works for some time while the server is running. (The relevent section is copied below)

# External locations
#————-
ooo.exe=/opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice
img.root=/usr/bin
img.exe=/usr/bin/convert
swf.exe=/usr/bin/pdf2swf
ooo.user=/opt/Alfresco/alf_data/oouser

Any assistance in how to fix the connection being lost would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Discovered the solution was that some of the documents I was trying to upload cause the openoffice connection to be lost.

No common thread amongst the documents that cause the failure.
