Hi All,

I’m very happy to share the following… What all started off as an experiment finally resulted in being a very business critical component in our service oriented architecture.

Activiti at Scarlet - Use-case Description:
Scarlet is building a provisioning system for automating the delivery of multi-play telecommunication offer. For example Scarlet Internet, Scarlet Internet and Voice-over-IP telephony, Scarlet Internet and Digital TV, Mobile Telephony, etc… (For more details please check http://www.scarlet.be).
One off the biggest challenges in automating this delivery process; is automating the most common use-cases; but also supporting the rather infrequent use-cases. This is where Ativiti fits perfectly in as a workflow- and business process management platform; coupling nicely human-tasks and automated service-tasks into one business process.
Scarlet uses Activiti Service-Tasks to call external and internal parties. For example encrypted mail communication towards the incumbent; post-script files communication towards printing services, jdbc calls towards billing systems, etc.
Activiti Human-Tasks are used at Scarlet for both incident management ticketing on the automated processing; as for indicating manual tasks for the rather infrequent use-cases.

Technical Integration of Activiti
We integrated the Activiti Engine in an existing Spring 3.0 project and use the Eclipse Designer plug-in to create Activiti diagrams.

Who is Scarlet?
Scarlet Belgium NV is an active player on the Belgian telecom market since 1997. Scarlet has grown to be a top-player, due to organical growth and a politic of acquisitions.
For instance take-overs of Planet Internet België (2003), Tiscali België (2004) and MobiSud Belgique (2010).
At the end of 2008, after approval of the Council of Competition (Raad voor de Mededinging), Scarlet was acquired by the Belgacom Group.
Scarlet is an autonomous subsidiary of the Belgacom consumer division (CBU) with its own management team and focussed on the price-conscious consumer. Scarlet complements the Belgacom consumer-offers perfectly.

Kind Regards,
Tom

Hello,

I have a question;

we also think to use Activiti BPM Platform in our new software development project..
We know that for support there different channels such as user forums, blogs, etc..
Did you need any quick support during the implementation or later?
How did you manage it?

I’d be pleased if you share your experience..

Thanks in advance..

Regards,
