Task list assignments DO NOT SHOW UP??

Hi,

I've setup a number of task lists for our team's use. However, there is a SERIOUS lack of features with the task lists!!

1. Nobody knows they have tasks assigned since assigned tasks do not show up in the user's task list. Why not???

2. Nobody knows the task lists have changed because changes do not show up in the "recent changes" list of a site. Again, why not???

The task lists are just samples for data lists.    

They are not workflow tasks which is why they don't show up in the user's list of workflow tasks.    I don't personally know about how the "recent changes" works but it sounds like there's a little integration missing or possibly there needs to be a connection between a data list and a site.

Clearly there will be evolution on this feature, I suspect it may be that this is a bad example of a data list and needs to be removed or renamed since its functionality overlaps with workflow.

I would very much like to see the tasks in the my tasks list as well as see the changes made to the data lists in the recent changes portlet. Is there any way to do that currently or is that only a feature planned for a future version?

There are no plans to add Data List-based "tasks" to the workflow tasks lists. As Mark said, the task lists were out-of-the-box examples of Data List modelling. There's no reason why you couldn't create a dashlet to read Data List items however.

The missing activity logs are a known issue, we may get around to adding them for v3.4 but it's more likely a later version now.
