Hello,
I want to create a site for my company, but I also want to create a subsite for every department, aswell as a subsite for every user.
Something like this:
Company Site
………Dept.1 site
………….user1 site
………Dept.2 site
………….user2 site
………….user3 site
………Dept.3 site
………….user4 site
I was working with sharepoint a few months ago, but I'm moving to Alfresco and I don't know how to create subsites. Can anyone help me?
Thanks in advance

There's no concept of "subsites".
However you could give each department its own site and have a company wide site.

This is a definite problem for some of our users, as they really, really like the way that Sharepoint does it, with nested sites. It is especially important when we are anticipating hundreds, if not thousands of sites, for every committee or project task force in the organization. Naming protocols when you have so many sites in a flat name space becomes nightmarish.

Please raise an enhancement request in in JIRA. It would help if you could also describe how you'd expect this to work, for example would documents be visible in the "higher" up sites as well as the subsites?
Thanks,
Mike

Hi All,
We are planning to replace SharePoint to Alfresco Share and planning to migrate documents to Alfresco Repository but what observed is we cannot create Sub-sites in Share as in SharePoint.
How to have Parent-Child relationship between sites in Share?
Site Creation UI do not provide option to specify parent of the site. I am not sure if it is bug or improvement to Alfresco.
Does it exist already? If yes let us know where to look for this.
We are using Alfresco Community v3.3 for our project.
I think this is simple feature that Alfresco should have taken into consideration when they claim that Alfresco Share is SharePoint Killer.
Also raised issue in JIRA for this -https://issues.alfresco.com/jira/browse/ALF-4288
Also would like to know about migration of documents from SharePoint for which -
1. We are going to create Sites under 'Sites; directory of ALfresco DM.
2. we are going to upload documents using JAVA API under the newly created sites.
Will there be any issues doing this?
A quick reply would be appreciated!!!
