hey alfresco community!
im trying to set up the smtp server i have added the required lines to alfresco-global.properties for smtp and i am successfully receiving the smtp subsystem test email with no issues from the appropriate account. i have enabled notification.email.siteinvite=true and i am still not able to invite any users whether pre made or "outside" users. no emails are being received by any members
help! ive been scratching my head at this for a while now
thanks!
AJ

Hi
Can you give us your log file while you try to send the invite to see if there is a problem there?

Hi,
i have the same problem, as i mentioned today in post http://forums.alfresco.com/de/node/53701
What i recognized when your smtp server configuration mail adress is the same as the mail adress for your admin account the site invitation works, but only if the admin invites to a site. All other users are not able to invite.
Also the admin is then able to assign workflows or define a rule for a folder to send emails.
But all that only works when admin invites, assigns or uploads content to a folder.
I'm searching for months for a solution. but couldn't find one.
So for me it seems, the user who wants to perform an email action must have a matching email adress to that in global-properties.
Never seen such a crab.
I have set up many systems i.e perforce, jira with exactly one emailadress for smtp outbound mail and any user actions are sent via this account.
I meanwhile fear, alfresco isn't able to do this.
Anyone may correct me if i'm wrong. But i couldn't find any solution in any forum or interne site.
Regards Oli

Sounds like your server is validating the from address. You probably want to set mail.from.enabled=false

Thanks for the answer, but mail.from.enabled is actually set to false
