Slow response time when opening complex Web Content Items

Hi,

I think this may have been posted before, or there may even be a JIRA issue but I cannot find it right now.

We have a reasonably complex Web Form with nested fields and such. When we create a new Web Content Item based on this form the response time of the Alfresco Web Client is very slow. And when content a lot of content is entered in the web content item, reopening (edit) the item becomes slower and slower. The CPU of my local machine goes up during this process as well.

It becomes almost unworkable for some large content items.

Is there anything that can be done about this?

cheers,

Edgar

Edgar:

Do you happen to have a large number of TinyMCE-enabled fields?  TinyMCE was making a large number of round-trips during editing to the server in 2.0.1E and earlier.  We've done some performance tuning work here for 2.1.0 Community and later.

Can you open a support case, and attach your XSD?  We'll see if additional performance tuning is needed.

Yes, we do have a number of TinyMCE fields. We are running Alfresco 2.1R1 Community.

Ok. Will do.

I created a JIRA issue:
http://issues.alfresco.com/browse/WCM-682

Oh yes, we don't have a support contract as we are using the Community edition at present.. So I can't complain too much I guess. 😉

Well well … we have to get you onto a support contract then!  But that said, let me look into getting this issue investigated and closed.
