Share and replication job

Hi,
I have following requirements
1. I need to copy document from alfresco share document repository when ever user updates it.
2. Get the meta data for these files and log it in another log file which can be referred later for reporting purpose.

For requirement 1 I am using file transfer receiver server and replication job.
Using this I am able to copy files from alfresco share repository to file system.
Any pointers on requirement 2 will be very helpful.
Sample code examples would be much appreciated.

When a transfer happens transfer reports are created on both source and destination systems.   In addition there are a couple of policies that fire when a transfering.
