Setting up a drop-down list in Advanced search

This is related to the very helpful "How to setup drop down list to choose for metadata field???" topic, which dropped the issue.

Has anyone implemented the customisation to have a drop down list in the advanced search which was suggested by Gavin on the last entry of the first page?

Any update on the JIRA task?

I've now implemented a version of this by adding the relevant code from TextFieldGenerator into a new UISearchCustomProperties class. I  changed the faces-config-repo.xlm to pick up this class as the AdvancedSearchBean.

However, now the search boxes within the additional options section are being ignored by the search. Any idea what could be causing this? Have I missed a reference somewhere?
