Sending Log-in/Password to New Users via E-mail?

Hi there,
I work for a small company that just started using Alfresco, and I've been asked to do some basic user configurations. I find myself spending a good deal of time writing e-mails to people to give them their newly configured log-in credentials. Is there any way Alfresco could automatically send a new user his or her log-in and password?
Thanks,
Mike

There isn't, but it sounds like a good idea, please raise a JIRA item for it.

Thanks,

Kevin

Thanks for the quick turnaround, Kevin!

I'm surprised there's no such thing! I see there are some templates and rules that can be used for sending notification e-mails, and I know there's some flexibility in configuring these, so I thought for sure there was just something simple I was missing…

How do enterprise clients handle this when they have to bring a whole bunch of employees onto Alfresco all at once? I guess they have their own scripts?

Anyway, I'm afraid I'm enough of a n00b to be a little clueless on the jargon, here. Web research got me far enough to open a JIRA account, but when it asks what project to file this under, I have no idea what's going on. I see Alfresco PHP SDK, Alfresco Repository, Alfresco RM, Alfresco WCM, Alfresco Web Client (this is my guess?), Quality Assurance, and Documentation… Which should I post under? And is this a "New Feature" or an "Improvement" (on the available notifications).

Thanks again!

Mike

Hi,

Many of our Enterprise customers are using LDAP or NTLM for authentiation I believe.

It is possible to get somewhere with rules/scripting - but the password for a user would never be accessable via those APIs so any email you sent wouldn't have enough info in it - you'd still get called up to tell them the password Smiley Happy

The JIRA item can be filed in Alfresco Web Client or Alfresco Repository as a New Feature or Improvement is fine.

Thanks,

Kevin
