I am looking at using Alfresco for internal collaboration and document sharing. It seems like currently I can assign security  based on individual users. Is there a way (or coming version) that I can assign security based on Group?

Hello,

Yes Group support will be part of the Profressional/Enterprise Network version of Alfresco.

As a matter of fact, I noticed that the group

GROUP_EVERYONE

has been defined in enterprise v1. I haven't been able to find a way to define my own groups though. Is this possible already?

Hello,

GROUP_EVERYONE is a hardcoded group in V1.
Our next release will let you create groups from the UI.

Hi

To be clear,

GROUP_EVERYONE is a special group identifier.

The group support will appear in the Profressional/Enterprise Network version of Alfresco.

Simple permissions will appear in the Open version. There will be no group support in the open version.

Regards

Andy
