Search not work after migration

Hi,

I've backup the alfresco under Linux platform and have restored it on Windows.
I make a clean install on Windows, dropped alfresco db, restored the backup db-dump.
Removed everything in /alf_data except of /postgres and replace the backup one.

I found everything gone OK, all files, users and folders are fully migrated from Linux.
But I am trying to use search box, I cannot find any file that is exist in the alfresco share.
Even the search string name is exactly the same as the filename in alfresco, I cannot find the file using the search box.
It always appears 0 file found.

Can anyone give an advise on it? Any suggestion or solution or help is highly appreciated.

Try to do reindexing.
It could solve your problem.

If you just change
index.recovery.mode=full
in your alfresco-global.properties file and restart the server it will reindex automatically.

I tried to add "index.recovery.mode=FULL" in alfresco-global.properties,
After I restart tomcat, it still cannot found any file in the search result.

Whats wrong with this? any hints can help?

Which version of Alfresco have you installed?
Are you using SOLR or Lucene as index subsystem?
Can you list all subfolders of your alf_data directory?
Can you see some error or warnings in your log file?
Please provide more informations.

I am using Alfresco 4.2c both in Windows and Linux.
How can I know used SOLR or Lucene as index subsystem? Where can I find the info?

Under alf_data folder:
contentstore
contentstore.deleted
keystore
postgresql
solr
solrBackup

No error recorded in log file. Only the error of setting the SMTP server since I have not set it yet.
But I think the issue is not related to the SMTP error.

Could you provide which log I need to check? I checked alfresco.log and tomcat's log catalina.log

Looks like you are using solr.
Check the index.subsystem.name property in your alfresco-global.properties file.
Which version did you get before the upgrade? it was prior the 4.0?
You can try changing that property in this way: index.subsystem.name=lucene, then make a full reindex setting index.recovery.mode=full anche check if it's going better.
If not look at both your alfresco.log and catalina.log and post the errors.

Yes! Great! I work with your solution!

I am using 4.0d under Linux before upgrade to 4.2c under Windows,
I changed the subsystem name of index to "lucene" and the recovery mode to "FULL".
Then, I restart tomcat and the search function is work for now!!

BTW, I would like to share some hints to others finding help.
the recovery mode parameter needs to set "FULL" instead of "full", otherwise, I cannot login with any account.
I have no ideas why this happened. Maybe this is Windows platform problem or 4.2c changed to "FULL"?
