Search architecture and design documentation

Hi,

I am trying to add  faceting and highlighting features to 4.0.c CE. I tried some tests but got stuck. I posted my problems in another thread: https://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=45724&p=134791#p134791

I cannot find any architecture or design related documents from WIKI. If possible I want to learn how Alfresco search was implemented( index schema, the difference between search sub-systems, how to build NodeRef based on search result, etc.). I read source codes but I am afraid I didn't get a complete picture of search architecture.

Any kind of material are appreciated. Thanks in advance.

For faceting / highlighting etc. you'll have to use the Alfresco Solr integration, not Lucene.
