Hello
One of my main use of the ipad application is to modify PDF documents using PDF Expert, DocuSign or GoodReader.
A Great feature of Alfresco Mobile is Save Back functionality with QuickOffice.

Are any plan to implement a similar feature for PDF Expert or another one ?

Hi,

Yes, we have have been talking to various publishers about the save back functionality for iOS. Some have their own mechanism, we also have one available in our SDK, but they all require co-development and that takes time. We are also working with publishers to integrate direct access to your Alfresco repository within their apps, enabling you to view and annotate PDF documents without the need for save back. Either way, you will see progress in that area in 2013.

Any updates this regards?
It would be good to have a list of current iOS applications supporting Alfresco and the level of support on your website. Can help business convince about usage of alfresco but also help you market alfresco globally.

Hi Christian

Great idea to list current support on the Alfresco website - I must admit I thought it was already on there. I'll see if we can get that fixed!

We were all hoping that Apple would help us solve this extremely common use case with iOS 7. What we've found instead is that a lot of third parties are struggling with the changes that Apple made to lock down shared clipboards in that update. This was often the preferred way of sharing documents between apps rather than the somewhat more "clunky" Open In… dance that QuickOffice implements. However, as you may have discovered even Google are struggling with this mechanism with QuickOffice (even between Drive and QO).

We're still talking to partners and collectively trying to find usable, stable implementations. One company of interest is Ink Mobility who are dedicated to resolving this common issue.

Thanks,
Mike
