HI,

It's with great frustration that I seem to be able to upload the same file into many spaces within a site. Should this be normal as I read that there should only be one instance of the same file with links to others in different spaces.

Please could I get some guidance on this.

Thks.

If you upload a file into several spaces then you have uploaded several different files.   Each copy will have its own lifecycle.

What you may have meant to do instead is upload the file once and then link it to the other spaces, then there will only be one file.

Thanks for getting back to me. My Question is then, How do I stop the same file being copied into different spaces in a site. ie. I do not wish to have duplicate files in a site, no matter which space it is in?

Thanks again.

Assuming that you have an algorithm which can detect duplicate files.

You could define a rule that fires after upload and removes and links the duplicates.     Other people may have more suggestions.
