Running Alfresco 4.2.1 on MS SQL Server 2008 R2: any experiences?

Hello there,

wer are currently Running Alfresco <strong>4.1.6</strong> (on Windows 2008 Server) with <strong>SQL Server 2008 R2</strong> as database and would like to upgrade to Alfresco <strong>4.2.1.</strong>.

Unfortunately Alfresco discontinued support of MS SQL Server 2008 R2 with the release of Alfresco 4.2. Due to our strategic plannings we would like to continue the use of MS SQL Server 2008 R2 at the moment.

<ul>
<li>Has anyone collected some practical experiences with running the combination of <strong>Alfresco 4.2.1.</strong> and <strong>SQL Server 2008 R2</strong>?</li>

<li>Which JDBC driver should be used (JTDS driver or Microsoft JDBC 4.0 driver)?</li>

<li>Are there any proven or expected issues or known errors when using that combination?</li>
</ul>

Thanks in advance.

Kind regards
Markus

Its unlikely to have changed that much between 4.1 and 4.2 so use the same driver as you do for 4.1.

The problem is that it will not have been tested with that old version of SQL server, AFAIK there are no known issues.

Hi,

I'm using Community version 5d. Install in windows server 2008 R2 and plan to use sql server DB in separate box.

I'm follow the instruction given here: http://docs.alfresco.com/5.0/tasks/sqlserver-config.html

Once done when I try to login it say the ID was not authorize or alfresco was currently not available.

Please help

In future please post your log files.   The error would be clear.

However this is probably that SQL server is not supported (won't work) on alfresco community.     There may be a community add on for this, have you installed it?
