RSS Feed Authentication

I'm confused by the RSS System in Share. Do you always need to re-login to the share site when you want access to a RSS Feed? Is there a way to authenticate via URL in the feed subscription or allow public rss feeds?

I've tried it in flock, where it works especially bad since you have to re-login by viewing an rss feed on a share site, and also Firefox Live Bookmarks.

One way is to put the username and password in the URL. This works in some readers and not in others. For example it does not work in Google Reader and it doesn't give you any meaningful error message either. But it does work in some readers, for example http://www.rssinclude.com

The feed should then look something like this:
http://userSmiley Tongueassword@www.example.com/share/feedservice/components/dashlets/activities/list?format=atom...

But obviously, having usernames and passwords in the URI is a very bad idea. Are there alternatives? I suppose you can just set up a read-only consumer for your site and use the username and password for that in the URL but it's not ideal. Any other suggestions anyone?
