RSS Dashlet from behind corporate firewall

Hi All

Does anyone know how to configure Alfresco Share to use a web proxy when retrieving RSS feeds for the RSS dashlet?

Our deployment is behind a firewall that requires outgoing HTTP connections to use a proxy server. Despite trying many different RSS urls and alfresco config settings, we have been completely unable to get the RSS dashlet working.

Many thanks

Andy

Can you use the RSS Dashlet with a RSS file hosted on your local network?

We tried that and it does not work (3.1 Enterprise). So, looking to use an Internet RSS feed probably will not work either. There's no error message it just does not display anything.

I think the RSS Dashlet does not work at all.

Thanks Séamus - that does sound like the same problem we're having, an empty RSS dashlet saying 'no news items'.

I'll try a local feed.

Hi,
Sadly, Share's RSS Feed Dashlet consumes RSS on the serverside. So your server thats hosts Share-webapp must have an internet connection to use external feeds.

it worked fine for us when we hosted the RSS feed internally (behind the firewall)

the server has access to the internet via a proxy - is there any way we can tell alfresco to use the proxy server?

we tried passing system properties (http.proxyHost and http.proxyPort) but it didn't help.

Andy.
