Hi,
I'm asking if it's possible to restrict the rights to use/see a dashlet for a part of the users of the same site ?
Thanks

This is not possible out-of-the-box.

thanks.
Is it possile to prevent some users to customize their interface ? Could it be a way to restrict the use of specific dashlelt for some people ?

I've done this before by customizing Share such that the "Customize Dashboard" button is not visible unless you are an Administrator. There are extension points in Alfresco 4 that make this a little bit easier than it used to be, but it is still not config.

Then, you can create multiple dashboard presets (like one for each different "type" of user) and set the user's dashboard appropriately when you create their account. Without the Customize Dashboard button they'll be forced to use the dashlets that you have configured.

Hi zeldoune,

Found your thread while I was looking for a way to do pretty much the same (we had some dashlets created for particular sites, but didn't want users adding them to other sites). Not sure if this is EXACTLY what you want, but I also found this thread - https://forums.alfresco.com/en/viewtopic.php?f=48&t=37906 - which shows how to hide some dashlets completely when in the "Customize Dashlets" section. We set up the dashlets on the sites we need them, then followed the instructions in this forum so that people no longer see these dashlets in the options. I believe you could also fairly simply modify the function to check if users are in a particular group to decide if the dashlet should be listed or not.

This doesn't allow you to have the one site with different dashlets displayed for different users (I got the impression this may have been what you were first looking for) but hopefully it helps!

I'm actually going to try to modify the function so that we can show a different list of dashlets to add based on group membership. If this IS what you are looking for I am happy to post my results if I can figure it out (I really relish the few times I can be on the helpful side of the open source community, rather than the "desperately begging for help" side Smiley Tongue).
