Hello,

First off, apologies if this is an incorrect location for this question, feel free to move my post to the correct forum.

I am an outsourced IT consultant who was assigned a client that currently uses Alfresco as their content management system.  They are interested in moving to a different system and asked if i could find out how to download all of the content currently present in Alfresco for upload into the new CMS.

Unfortunately i have only found a way to retrive base files with no metadata (no filename, created/modify)…

I found a few indications when searching the forum that this is indeed possible, but unfortunately i haven't found any method to do this.  Someone mentioned something about upgrading Alfresco and using CIMS, but i'm not sure if this will accomplish what i need.

Any help is appreciated

Thank You!

First you need to do analysis on how and if your content models will be migrated,  that applies to any system migration not just alfresco.

You either need to use an ETL tool or use one of Alfresco's many APIs to extract data from alfresco, transform it and load it into your new System.

Alfresco has lots of APIs available for accessing content and metadata.

It could be as simple as just ftping content from one repo to another, or it could be a major undertaking as models are transformed, along with version history and security.
