Replication jobs and version constraints

Hi,
I want to use replication jobs to synchronize content between different Alfresco instances. I would like to understand the constraints in terms of versions.
Especially, I would like to know if it is possible to synchronize an Enterprise instance with a Community  instance.
I tried to synchronize Enterprise.4.2.1 with Community.4.2.0 and I got the following error message:

org.alfresco.service.cmr.transfer.TransferException: 04309035 Unable to transfer between incompatible versions transferId:None from:Enterprise.4.2.1 to:Community.4.2.0

Yes, There is strict constrain on versions AFAIK. Your source and target repo should be of exactly same version.
