Reload dashlet in Alfresco Share

How to reload dashlet in Alfresco Share using Ajax or simple javascript?

I have a hyperlinks in dashlet A in Alfresco Share as menu items. Dashlet B is also in Alfresco Share. What I'm trying to do is, when I click on one of the hyperlinks in dashlet A, code should do the following: (i)pass a parameter to dashlet B (ii)based on the parameter passed, load the html (innerhtml) to the dashlet B ftl (iii)this should be the case for all the hyperlinks in dashlet A.

Technically speaking, since the dashlets aren't embedded in any kind of Iframe, they share the same context. So they should be able to interact (create a specific ID or classname in some element on dashletB and document.getElementById can easily retrieve it from dashletA)
However, conceptually, dashlets are meant to be independent entities and should be self-sufficient and not impacted by the outside.

So, what is your use case?
Couldn't you just create one single dashlet composed of 2 sections (potentially tabs) that switch after a link click?
